Make-A-Wish Nebraska held a reverse parade this morning for children to enjoy during the pandemic. It was especially timely for one family.
“She was supposed to go to Disney World for her wish in March before her spinal surgery, and it was like for days before it got canceled because of the COVID,” said Joanie Hemmer, talking about her daughter, Emberlyn.
At the Yankee Hill Business Center, volunteers and supporters dressed up as characters on the sidewalks, singing, dancing, waving to families in cars, or walking though using social distancing.
“Being here today is a dream come true,” said Hemmer. “My kids wanted to stay all day. They’ve been sitting here playing with Anna and Elsa, their favorite princesses, and it’s just been phenomenal.”
