Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk held at Holmes Lake

Even with the snow, an important walk took place today.
It was the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.
The walk kicked off at 1 pm at Holmes Lake Park.
The goal is to unite behind the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives from breast cancer.
Even with the snow, the event saw a good crowd, about a thousand people showed up today.
“Five years ago I signed up to volunteer and two weeks later I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have been involved with this walk as long as I have been a survivor. This is my fifth year at the walk and as a survivor. I am officially in remission and celebrating in this beautiful weather,” said Sarah Frederick, breast cancer survivor.
Event officials say about $80,000 dollars was raised today.
