Man accidentally shot himself at Lincoln assisted living facility, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was injured Wednesday in an accidental shooting at a Lincoln assisted living facility.

Police said they were called to The Lexington at 56th Street and Pioneers Boulevard about 2 p.m.

The facility said in an email to families that a vendor came into the building to use the bathroom.

While he was there, a concealed handgun in his holster went off, The Lexington said.

The man was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

The Lexington said no residents were nearby when the gun went off.

“We are a ‘No Weapons’ facility,” the facility said in the email.

Police said the vendor has been ticketed with unlawful discharge of a firearm.
