Man accused in deadly fentanyl overdose in Lincoln sent to district court

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man will stand trial in a fatal fentanyl overdose.
On Thursday, Lancaster County Judge Laurie Yardley found probable cause in the case against Michel Mikaya and sent it to district court.
Mikaya, 33, is charged with distribution of an exceptionally hazardous drug.

Court documents allege that in August 2023, Mikaya sold a 27-year-old man a bag of pills.
The pills were labeled “M30,” which is oxycodone,” but were actually fentanyl, police said.
The man died at a home in Lincoln after taking at least one of the pills, an arrest affidavit says.
Mikaya was arrested in June. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
His arraignment in Lancaster County District Court is scheduled for Oct. 9.
