LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Tuesday after an attempted kidnapping in a neighborhood near downtown Lincoln, police say.

Around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the F Street Rec Center on a report of what was believed to be an assault.

Officers discovered that a 12-year-old boy was walking near 10th and F streets when Tony Brown, 38, walked up behind him.

Police said Brown grabbed the boy by his backpack and started pushing him toward a vehicle parked nearby.

Brown asked a girl in the vehicle, “Is this the boy?”

When the girl said no, Brown let go of the boy, according to LPD.

Witnesses had recorded the entire incident.

Officers later found Brown at his home and arrested him on suspicion of attempted kidnapping-voluntary release.
