LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man was arrested Thursday after crashing into a home in central Lincoln, police say.

Around 2:40 a.m., officers responded to a park near Apple Street and Idylwild Drive on a report of a disturbance.

Officers arrived and found 25-year-old Tyler Belk inside a Honda Pilot, according to police.

When officers approached him, Belk drove off with no lights on, LPD said.

Officers followed Belk and tried to pull him over — but they said he continued speeding south on 35th Street.

About 10 minutes later, LPD said Belk crashed through a fence and into a garage at a home near 35th and O streets.

Police said the collision caused bricks and debris to land on two vehicles parked in the driveway.

Belk ran away, according to police, but officers found him near 33rd and O streets and took him into custody.

Police said he refused to comply with a preliminary breath test.

Belk was arrested on suspicion of fleeing in a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and refusing a chemical test.

He was also cited for first-offense DUI and willful reckless driving.
