Man accused of DUI after crashing into north Lincoln tree
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man was arrested Thursday after crashing into a tree in north Lincoln, police say.
The crash was reported about 7:45 p.m. at 60th Street and Platte Avenue in the Havelock neighborhood.
Police said a Honda Ridgeline was heading west “at a high rate of speed” when it tried making a right-hand turn.
But due to the speed, the vehicle was unable to make the turn and crashed into a tree, according to LPD.
The driver, 42-year-old Ron Leafty, was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
He was uncooperative during the investigation and resisted officers’ efforts to detain him, LPD said.
The passenger, a 43-year-old Lincoln woman, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Leafty was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. After being released from the hospital, he was arrested on DUI causing serious bodily injury and driving during license revocation.
