LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday after police say he resisted arrest at an east Lincoln gas station.

Around 5 p.m., officers were sent to North 64th and Adams streets on a report of a man pointing a gun at a person.

Police said the man, later identified as 24-year-old John Mervin Thompson III, got into a vehicle and drove off.

Shortly after, officers spotted the vehicle at Kwik Shop near 44th and O streets.

When officers approached the vehicle, Thompson was standing next to the driver’s door.

Police said Thompson — who wasn’t complying with the officers’ command — started getting back into the vehicle.

Officers tackled Thompson to the ground and took him into custody.

He showed “signs of impairment” and failed a preliminary breath test while in custody, according to police.

A black air gun was later found in the vehicle.

Thompson was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including DUI and second-offense resisting arrest.
