Man accused of DUI in hit-and-run crash in northwest Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested early Monday morning after a hit-and-run crash in northwest Lincoln, police say.

Around 1 a.m., officers were sent to Northwest 55th Street and West St. Paul Avenue.

The caller heard a loud noise outside and checked her Ring doorbell video, which showed a silver truck hit two other vehicles before leaving the area.

One of the vehicles, a 2024 Ford Escape, was totaled in the crash.  The other vehicle had $6,000 in damage, according to LPD.

About 10 minutes later, officers responded to the Burlington Northern Railroad on West O Street after a silver truck got stuck on the tracks, police said.

The truck was blocking a train line, causing two of their tracks to be shut down and delaying their normal operations, according to police.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, “showed signs of impairment,” police said.  He was found to have a blood alcohol content level of .137.

The man was arrested on suspicion of DUI-first offense and resisting arrest.  He was also cited on suspicion of several charges, including driving under suspension.
