Man accused of running squalid Nebraska drug house pleads not guilty

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A southeast Nebraska man accused of keeping drugs in reach of children pleaded not guilty Thursday.
Quentin Teeters waived his preliminary hearing in Saline County Court, and Judge Linda Bauer sent his case to district court.
On July 5, authorities went to a home in Wilber looking for Teeters, 36.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office said Teeters, a sex offender, had failed to update the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry on his whereabouts.

Deputies found Teeters in the basement and arrested him.
On a nearby coffee table, they saw a glass vial with methamphetamine, according to court documents.
So they searched the home and found multiple bags of meth and pipes with meth residue, deputies said.
Four children lived in the home, which court documents describe as a filthy drug house.

Deputies found dog feces “smeared all over the floor” of two rooms, an arrest affidavit says.
There were also moldy food and drinks throughout the home, deputies said.
Authorities also arrested a woman, 32-year-old Cortney Connelly, at the home.
She is charged with child abuse and possession of a controlled substance.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 27.
Teeters faces three felonies in the case: violating the Sex Offender Registry Act, child abuse and possession of a controlled substance.
He will be arraigned in Saline County District Court on Oct. 2.
