Man accused of sexually assaulting children at Grand Island church

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing felony charges in the sexual assault of two children at a church in Grand Island.

Milton Castanon Jr., 23, was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.

On July 25, a parent of the victims reported the sexual assaults to the Grand Island Police Department, according to an arrest affidavit.

The sexual assaults happened in 2018 at a Grand Island church, court documents allege.

After interviews with the victims, officers arrested Castanon on Saturday.

Castanon is related to the pastor of a church, who had been made aware of the allegations prior to the arrest, the affidavit says.

The pastor asked his congregants to give him two weeks before reporting the sexual assault, so he could send Castanon back to Guatemala, according to the affidavit.

Castanon is set to appear in court on Aug. 22.
