Man accused of smashing window to break into rural southeast Nebraska home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Beatrice man was arrested Wednesday after a break-in at a rural Gage County home, the sheriff’s office says.

Around 1 p.m., deputies were sent to the home west of Beatrice on a report of a break-in.

The caller said she saw a man inside the home on her security system.

During an investigation, deputies learned that 43-year-old Barry Lomax broke in by smashing a basement window.

Shortly after, deputies found Lomax at his home.  He was arrested on suspicion of burglary, attempted theft and criminal mischief.

Lomax was lodged in the Gage County Detention Center.
