Officers later learned the passenger, 40-year-old John Graves II, yanked the wheel of the Chevrolet Impala causing it to swerve across lanes of traffic and crash into a pole.

The driver, a 23-year-old victim, identified Graves as her ex-boyfriend and explained they had been arguing prior to the collision.

After the crash, Graves got out of the car and began punching the back driver’s side window.

When police contacted graves, they say he became enraged, sted screaming, and tried to charge the victim. It took several officers to wrestle Graves to the ground. He continued to violently resist arrest, even attempting to bite officers.

Graves was taken to a local hospital and as he was being loaded into an ambulance he continued to scream, thrash, and spit on a paramedic.

Once he was released from the hospital, Graves was arrested and taken to jail. Multiple jail officers had to restrain and process him for booking as he continued to be uncooperative. He again spit on a correctional staff member.

Graves was lodged for a variety of charges including domestic assault and two counts of spitting on another person.
