Man accused of stabbing Lincoln Police officer appears in court

A man accused of stabbing a Lincoln Police officer during an officer-involved shooting in December appeared in court Monday.

A judge set bond for Christopher Brennauer, 43, at $500,000.

Lincoln Police said Brennauer stabbed Officer Kyle Russell, after Russell and Officer Josh Atkinson responded to a disturbance call involving a man with a knife in the 3200 block of South 48th Street.

Officials say Brennauer stabbed Russell, who then reached for and fired his weapon – which struck Atkinson in the leg.

Brennauer was shot in the shoulder.
