Man accused of trying to sexually assault teen on south Lincoln trail

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man tried sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl Saturday afternoon on a trail in south Lincoln, police say.

Around 3:45 p.m., officers responded to Rock Island Trail, just north of 14th Street and Pine Lake Road, on a report of an attempted sexual assault.

A 16-year-old girl told officers that a man, later identified as 26-year-old Zabihullah Armani, was following her on the trail.

The victim took a video of Armani offering her money and following her.

Police said the teen screamed and fell to the ground when trying to run away.

Armani then grabbed the teen’s leg, but she got up and ran away, according to police.

Witnesses saw Armani trying to leave the area and confronted him, but he eventually left.

A few hours later, officers found Armani near the trail and took him into custody.  He had 0.4 grams of suspected meth on him, police said.

Armani was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance.
