Man allegedly beat brother with lamp during argument over cats

Lincoln Police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting his brother during an argument over cats.
Shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, officers arrived at a home in the 1000 block of S 16th Street, after a man called and told police that his brother, Kambiz Amjad, 39, was destroying items in their apartment.
When officers got to the apartment, Amjad’s brother opened the door and was bleeding from his mouth and nose, police said.
Amjad reportedly pushed the doors closed to prevent officers from getting in, and began barricading the door.
Officers forced the door open and took Amjad into custody.
Police say they were told Amjad and his brother got into an argument over who would keep their cats when Amjad moved out.
After the argument, Amjad reportedly began destroying things in the apartment, punched his brother, and hit him in the head with a lamp.
Police said a blood lamp was recovered at the scene.
Amjad was arrested for second-degree assault and resisting arrest.
His brother suffered non life-threatening injuries.
