Man armed with BB gun stole lighter, cigarettes in Lincoln robbery, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man took off with cigarettes and a lighter Tuesday in a robbery in Lincoln, police say.

Around 2:30 p.m., a man was walking near 12th and F streets when 28-year-old Richard Thornton approached him.

Thornton, who was armed with a gun, came up behind the victim and demanded his things, police said.

The victim ran away and left behind a lighter and cigarettes.  When he later returned, the lighter and cigarettes were gone.

Members of the Fugitive Task Force found Thornton, who matched the victim’s description, near 13th and F streets.

He had the cigarettes and lighter, along with a BB gun, according to police.

Thornton was arrested on suspicion of robbery.
