LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught red-handed Wednesday after falling asleep in a vehicle stolen at a Lincoln auto shop, police say.

Officers in Council Bluffs, Iowa, found 39-year-old Joshua Pearce asleep behind the wheel of a GMC Savanna 2500 van.

That vehicle was stolen the night before during a break-in at T.O. Haas near 27th Street and Folkways Boulevard in Lincoln.

Police said Pearce entered the building by shattering a window.

He then rammed an overhead garage door with a different vehicle before leaving with the van.

Pearce was arrested on suspicion of theft and an outstanding warrant, according to police.
