Man arrested after firing gun into air in southwest Lincoln, deputy says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday morning after firing a gun in southwest Lincoln, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.
At around 9:30 a.m., deputies received numerous calls regarding a 49-year-old Lincoln man who was yelling and firing a gun into the air near Southwest 40th and West A streets.
When deputies and officers from the Lincoln Police Department arrived, they were unable to find the man, according to Chief Deputy Ben Houchin.
But about five minutes later, they found the man and took him into custody. During a search of the area, deputies found the firearm involved in the incident, Houchin said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace and discharging a firearm from a roadway, both misdemeanors.
Houchin noted that the man was believed to be under the influence of a stimulant, like meth.
