Man arrested after firing stolen gun in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he was caught with a stolen firearm.
Just before 4 a.m., an anonymous individual flagged down officers in the Northwest Team Station parking lot and said there was a fight with guns at a business near 27th Street and Cornhusker Highway.
When officers arrived, a gunshot was heard and people started scattering, according to the Lincoln Police Department.
LPD said one person, 30-year-old Anthony Anderson, was seen running from where the gunshot was heard.
He was also running in the opposite direction from everyone else fleeing the area, according to LPD.
Anderson was found a short distance away and was detained by officers.
LPD said his path was retraced and a stolen firearm was found on the ground.
Investigators determined Anderson was in possession of the firearm — a Springfield 9mm — and it was marked as stolen in Lincoln in September 2023.
Anderson, a convicted felon, was lodged in the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a stolen firearm.
