Man arrested after holding hostage at gunpoint in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Wednesday morning after a hostage situation in north Lincoln, police say.

Around 8:15 a.m., officers were sent to an apartment building near 50th Street and Walker Avenue.

Brendan Wubbels, 20, held a woman at gunpoint for about an hour, according to police.

A neighbor said officers carrying shields were yelling at Wubbels from outside the home.

“I got off the bus, and here I am being met by a whole bunch of officers and a couple guys in tactical gear,” she said. “So yeah, I thought that was kind of strange.”

The Lincoln Police Department said officers took Wubbels into custody outside the building.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, police said.

The woman was not injured, according to LPD.

Wubbels was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including terroristic threats and using a weapon to commit a felony.
