Man arrested after lighting off explosive in front of Lincoln home, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught Tuesday with a homemade explosive at a south Lincoln apartment complex, police say.

Around 10:20 a.m., a woman heard what sounded like a gunshot outside of her home near 23rd and B streets.

Police said 52-year-old Travis Dillon had detonated an explosive in front of the home.  Investigators think the explosive was a firework.

An investigation led officers to Dillon’s home at The Lodge apartments near 40th Street and Nebraska Parkway.

Officers said they found a suspected homemade explosive in his vehicle, and Lincoln Fire & Rescue’s bomb squad was called in.

Dillon was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including using explosives to commit a felony.
