LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Thursday after trying to rob a Lincoln gas station, police say.

Just after 1:15 a.m., 57-year-old Cornelius Perkins entered the U-Stop near First and O streets.

Police said Perkins told an employee he had a gun in his pocket and to open the register.

The employee refused and Perkins was seen leaving in a silver pickup truck, according to LPD.

About two hours later, officers saw the truck near Second and M streets.

They found Perkins, who was wearing the same clothing seen in the surveillance video, and took him into custody.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.
