Man arrested for assault found with guns, flashbang, tactical vest

A man is facing a slew of charges after being arrested at a Plattsmouth home on New Year’s Day.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says Matthew Walton, 31, assaulted his mother and threatened his father with a gun.

Deputies later found Walton during a traffic stop and arrested him, according to a news release.

Three guns were found in the vehicle, as well as a tactical vest, ammunition, knives and other “suspicious” items, officials said.

A Nebraska State Patrol bomb squad was called to the scene, and seized a flashbang grenade, according to the release.

Walton is being held on the following charges: 3rd Degree Assault, Terroristic Threats, Driving Under the Influence Second Offense, Driving without an Operator’s License, Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Possession of a Defaced Firearm.

CCSO says other charges are pending.
