Man arrested on suspicion of DUI after hit-and-run, Lincoln Police say

A CCC-L employee and an inmate remain hospitalized.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence after he left the scene of a crash, Lincoln Police say.

Around 11:44 p.m., officers were sent to a two-vehicle crash at 11th and L Streets.  Three people were reported to be trapped inside one of the vehicles, according to Lincoln Police.

Officers say that a Community Corrections Center-Lincoln van had been traveling west on L Street when a Honda Accord that was traveling south on 11th Street ran a red light and struck the van.

The van was being operated by a CCC-L employee.  Two inmates on work release were inside the van at the time of the crash, according to Lincoln Police.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews got the three people in the van out of the vehicle and sent them to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The CCC-L staff member remains hospitalized with serious injuries, according to NDCS.  An inmate also remains in the hospital with back injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord, 33-year-old Robinson Juarez, had run away after the crash, Lincoln Police say.

Officers found Juarez four hours later when he called police to report that he had been in an accident but didn’t recall it, according to Lincoln Police.

Lincoln Police then arrested Juarez on suspicion of leaving the scene of an injury accident, DUI, no insurance and violating an automatic traffic signal.
