Man arrested in central Lincoln gas station robbery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested late Monday night in a robbery at a central Lincoln gas station, police say.

Around 11:40 p.m., officers responded to Casey’s near 27th and O streets on a report of a robbery.

Police said 47-year-old Francis Mesteth walked into the store, grabbed a bottle of alcohol and left without paying.

Mesteth was confronted, and he pulled out a handgun and threatened multiple people before running away, according to police.

Officers took Mesteth into custody after a short chase, and a “realistic-looking replica gun” was recovered.

Mesteth was arrested on suspicion of robbery, terroristic threats and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
