Man arrested in deadly hit-and-run crash in Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Wednesday after a deadly hit-and-run crash in Grand Island, police say.

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to a crash near Blaine Street and Phoenix Avenue.

The driver of a Dodge Charger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators found a license plate from the other vehicle, which had left the scene of the crash, according to police.

The investigation led officers to Pedro Chavez-Rodriguez, who was the registered owner of that vehicle.

Chavez-Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a fatality motor vehicle collision.
