Man arrested in north Lincoln stabbing

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing a felony assault charge in a stabbing Friday in north Lincoln, police say.

Around 5:30 p.m., officers were sent to 49th Street and Madison Avenue on a report of a stabbing.

Police said the victim and 33-year-old Jonas Birthmark were arguing over missing items from a backpack.

Birthmark then hit the victim with a “large stick” before pulling out a pocketknife, according to police.

The victim was stabbed in his arm and chest, police said.  He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The next day, officers found Birthmark at a home near 42nd Street and Cornhusker Highway and took him into custody.

He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including second-degree assault.
