Man arrested on weapons violation for concealing machete down front of pants

Lincoln police arrested a man Monday night at Mcdonald’s after he tried to conceal a machete in his pants.

On June 17th and approximately 10:30 pm, LPD officers responded to the McDonald’s at 547 North 48th Street on a report of a weapons violation.

Upon arrival, officers contacted a witness who advised that a customer inside the restaurant had a machete.

Officers contacted the individual, identified as 22-year-old Kelly Savage.

They observed that Savage had concealed the machete down the front of his pants.

Specifically, Savage had tied the handle to his drawstrings and put the rest of the machete down the front of his pants.

Savage explained that he’d been hired as a lumberjack by a temp agency, hence his reason for carrying the machete.

Due to his criminal history, officers cited and lodged Savage for Carrying a Concealed Weapon (F) and Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person (F).
