Man assaulted roommate, neighbor with metal bat in west Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Friday after he assaulted two people with a metal bat in west Lincoln, police say.

The assault was reported at a home near Folsom Street and Denton Road.

Just after midnight, 41-year-old Dale Kesselring went into his roommate’s bedroom and hit her with a bat “for an unknown reason,” according to police.

The victim left the home and went to a neighbor for help.  But Kesselring followed and continued hitting her with the bat, police said.

A neighbor grabbed a shovel and used it to disarm Kesselring and restrain him until officers arrived, according to police.

During the fight, the neighbor was hit by the bat.  He had injuries that were not life-threatening.

The roommate had multiple serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Kesselring was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and two counts of using a weapon to commit a felony.
