Man caught speeding west of Lincoln in third DUI arrest, deputy says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing a felony DUI charge after he was caught speeding west of Lincoln on Sunday, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says.
Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said Thein Pyu, 36, was pulled over after he was seen speeding near Southwest 63rd and O streets.
During the traffic stop, the deputy noticed a “strong odor” of alcohol, according to Houchin.
Pyu failed a sobriety test, and he was taken to the Lancaster County Jail, where deputies tried getting a breath sample.
“He was unable or unwilling to give us a long enough breath sample,” Houchin said.
Eventually, Pyu was found to have a 0.34% blood alcohol content level, according to Houchin. The legal limit in Nebraska is .08%.
He was arrested on suspicion of third-offense driving under the influence, speeding and refusing to submit to a chemical test.
