Man caught with meth after jumping two fences in Lincoln chase, court docs say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man on probation was caught with methamphetamine Wednesday after a foot chase in Lincoln, authorities say.
About 3 p.m., investigators with the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force were near 30th and Q streets surveilling Aaron Burkholder.
The 48-year-old from Kearney was wanted for violating the terms of his federal probation.
When officers approached him, he ran away, according to court documents.
An arrest affidavit says Burkholder ran through two backyards, jumping over two fences, before he was caught.
Investigators searched him and found 196.9 grams of meth — almost 7 ounces — and a digital scale, authorities said.
Burkholder was injured during the chase, so he was examined at a hospital before being booked in the Lancaster County Jail.
He appeared in court on Thursday, and a judge set his bond at $500,000. He would need to pay $50,000 to be released.
His next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 14.
In 2021, Burkholder escaped from federal detention while serving a sentence for a meth charge.
He was sentenced in 2023 to another 18 months in prison and another three years on probation.
