Man caught with meth after stealing blue dot signs in Omaha, sheriff’s office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A wanted man was caught Tuesday morning with meth during a “morning stroll” in Omaha, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 2:30 a.m., a deputy was patrolling a neighborhood after receiving complaints of “nighttime thievery.”

About three hours later, a deputy spotted a suspicious person, later identified as Jarid Pope, walking with two blue dot signs over his head in the rain.

The blue dot yard signs have been placed by voters supporting Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.

But the sheriff’s office said Pope wasn’t “engaged in political shenanigans.”

Pope — who had a warrant out for his arrest — had stolen the signs to use as an umbrella, the sheriff’s office said.

He was later found to have an undisclosed amount of meth and a large concealed knife, according to authorities.

Pope was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a controlled substance.
