Man caught with meth after taking off from officers in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was found with meth Tuesday after he tried fleeing from officers in a north Lincoln neighborhood, police say.

Investigators were conducting surveillance near First Street and Cornhusker Highway when they spotted 59-year-old Joseph Blythe around 6:40 p.m.

Blythe – who had two warrants out for his arrest – parked his car nearby, police said.

When investigators approached his vehicle, they asked Blythe to come out.  But he didn’t follow orders and drove off, according to police.

Eventually, officers found Blythe – still in the vehicle – down the road.  Police said he complied with orders and came out.

During the arrest, investigators found that Blythe had 3.1 grams of suspected meth on him, police said.

Blythe was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.
