Man caught with meth in Nebraska gets 15 years in prison, then deportation

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man from Mexico will spend 15 years in prison after being caught with methamphetamine in Nebraska.
U.S. District Judge Brian C. Buescher sentenced Israel Robledo-Cardenas on Wednesday in federal court, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
The case began on Nov. 15, 2022, when a Butler County sheriff’s deputy saw Robledo-Cardenas driving in Rising City, a village about 60 miles northwest of Lincoln.
The deputy knew that Robledo-Cardenas did not have a driver’s license, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
During the ensuing traffic stop, Robledo-Cardenas gave a fake name and was arrested.
His vehicle was towed, and a dog later smelled drugs inside.
Authorities found 104 grams of meth and a 9 mm handgun in a compartment behind the center console.
Robledo-Cardenas was sentenced to 10 years for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and five years for possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.
He is not a U.S. citizen, so after prison, he will be deported to Mexico.
