LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught red-handed Thursday night while breaking into a vehicle in east Lincoln, police say.

Officers were sent to 90th Street and Red Sky Lane around 8:15 p.m. on a report of a man trying to break into cars.

When officers arrived, they couldn’t find anything.

But 20 minutes later, officers went back to the same area after a caller saw broken glass near an SUV, police said.

An officer found a 24-year-old man partially hanging out of the vehicle.

He ran away, but the officer caught up and took him into custody.

The man had a bottle of whiskey and a Casey’s brand USB charging cord.  Both were reported stolen from a nearby Casey’s.

He was arrested on suspicion of refusing to comply with a police order.  The man was also cited on suspicion of several other charges.
