LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man is facing a felony charge in a New Year’s Day stabbing at a downtown Lincoln bar.

LeeAaron Berks, 22, was charged Monday with second-degree assault and using a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

Just after midnight on Jan. 1, officers were sent to Gravity near 12th and O streets on a report of a stabbing.

Berks and another man had been arguing at the bar.  The two men then started throwing punches, according to an arrest affidavit.

During the fight, Berks stabbed the man in the back, the affidavit alleges.  He left the area before officers arrived.

The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.  He had two “large” stab wounds in his back, the affidavit says.

After interviewing witnesses, officers arrested Berks on Friday.

Berks’ bond was set at $100,000 on Monday.  He must pay $10,000 to be released from jail.
