Man charged with attempted murder after brutally attacking teen, Nebraska police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man has been charged with attempted murder after being accused of brutally attacking a teen, causing ruptures in both of his eyes.

The Grand Island Police Department says this all happened Saturday around 1 a.m. at a house near East 12th Street and Warren Lane.

Witnesses reported that Panom Keolavone and a 16-year-old boy had gotten into an altercation in the garage.

The teen then went to the basement and barricaded himself behind a bedroom door, while Keolavone grabbed a screwdriver and repeatedly said he was going to kill the boy, according to police.

Someone took the screwdriver away, but he still went downstairs and kicked in the door, police said.

Keolavone put the teen in a headlock, according to witnesses, who physically forced him to release the boy.

The boy told police he passed out during the attack, which left him with injuries to his face, body and neck.

Keolavone is also charged with use of a weapon to commit a felony, assault by strangulation, terroristic threats and child abuse.
