Man charged with DUI in January crash east of Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Missouri man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a January crash east of Lincoln.
Lucas Faris, 23, is charged with DUI resulting in serious injury.
On Jan. 20, Faris was driving a minivan east on O Street near 120th Street.
Court documents say he crossed into the westbound lane and hit an SUV head-on.
Crews had to remove parts of the SUV to the driver out according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
He was taken to a hospital, where authorities said doctors found multiple fractures in his ribs, ankles, finger, femur and ulna.
The driver also suffered a dissection of his left carotid artery, according to an arrest affidavit.
The 35-year-old Omaha man required multiple surgeries and is still in rehab, the sheriff’s office said.
Faris smelled of alcohol at the scene, according to the affidavit, and was taken to a hospital “in significant pain.”
A blood sample taken at the hospital was sent to the state crime lab.
The blood alcohol content level was .191%, the affidavit says. That’s more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Faris — who lives in the Kansas City suburb of Lee’s Summit — turned himself in at the Lancaster County Jail.
He is due back in court on May 6.
