Man cited after throwing dead dog into southeast Nebraska river

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was ticketed Friday after throwing a dead dog in a river in Gage County, the sheriff’s office says.
On Friday evening, deputies responded to the Big Blue River Bridge in Blue Springs on a report of a dead dog found inside a kennel in the river.
During an investigation, deputies discovered a 34-year-old man from Wymore threw the deceased pet into the river after it died at his house.
The man was cited on suspicion of animal neglect and depositing a carcass in a waterway.
The dog was turned over to the animal control officer, who took it to the Beatrice Humane Society.
