UPDATE: Man dies after crashing into pole

Lincoln Police have released the name of the man killed after crashing his truck into a light pole in south Lincoln.
Police say 83–year–old Robert Marhenke suffered a medical episode while driving Tuesday night.
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. near 13th and Arapahoe. Police say a witness saw Marhenke hit a curb, correct his truck, then leave the roadway again and hit the light pole.
Fire officials say he was unconscious when they arrived and they immediately started CPR.
Marhenke was pronounced dead at the hospital.
“When we arrived we found a male patient behind the wheel of a car that had an accident,” Acting Capt. Daren Merryman said. “The engine was running. We believe the person had a medical emergency and crashed their car this evening.”
Marhenke was the only person in the vehicle.
No one else was injured.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews responded to a car vs. pole accident in South Lincoln.
Fire officials say paramedics performed CPR on the driver of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The accident happened around 9:30 near 13th and Arapahoe streets. Officials believe the man was driving south on 13th Street when he had some sort of a medical episode, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a pole on the west side of the road.
