Man faces possibility of death penalty in double homicide at Lincoln strip club

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The man accused of fatally shooting two men at a Lincoln strip club could face the death penalty.

Christopher Johnson, 32, appeared in court on Tuesday after prosecutors upgraded his first-degree murder charges.

They were originally Class 1a felonies, which carry a maximum penalty of life in prison. But they are now Class 1 felonies, which are punishable by death.

Early in the morning of May 25, Johnson shot Carlos Silva and Terrell Jones outside The Office Gentlemen’s Club near West Van Dorn and South Folsom Streets, court documents allege.

Silva and Jones were taken to a hospital, where they died.

Johnson is being held without bond in the Lancaster County Jail.

Darious Fletcher, who police said was with Johnson during the slayings, is charged with two counts of accessory to first-degree murder. He is in jail on a $2 million bond.

Lancaster County Judge Laurie Yardley scheduled Johnson and Fletcher’s preliminary hearings for Aug. 21.
