Man fatally shot stepfather outside of Walmart in Columbus, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Tuesday after fatally shooting his stepfather in a Walmart parking lot in Columbus, police say.
Around 6:20 p.m., officers from the Columbus Police Department responded to the shooting at Walmart near Eighth Avenue and Lincoln Highway.
When officers arrived, they found 42-year-old Anhil David Mirabal Hernandez with a gunshot wound to the chest, Capt. Doug Molczyk said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Shortly after, 25-year-old Manuel Alejandro Mesa Cabrerra turned himself in to police.
During an investigation, officers learned Hernandez was Cabrerra’s stepfather, according to police.
Cabrera was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
