Man fired gun at duo trying to steal vehicle in north Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A pair of thieves were stopped Tuesday during an attempted vehicle theft in north Lincoln, police say.
Around 1:30 a.m., two men tried to steal a vehicle parked in a driveway near North 33rd Street and St. Paul Avenue.
Police said the thieves broke the driver’s side door handle to get inside, causing about $2,000 in damage.
The vehicle’s owner then yelled “Freeze!” before firing three rounds at the thieves, according to police.
Investigators found two rounds inside the vehicle’s front passenger door, but the third round is unaccounted for. It’s unknown if one of the thieves was hit by the bullet.
Police said the thieves are about 6 feet tall and about 18 to 25 years old.
