LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A heated argument over an air conditioner led to the firing of a handgun at a home in northeast Lincoln, police say.

A 911 caller reported hearing a gunshot while a man and woman were arguing at a home near 70th Street and Havelock Avenue around 10:51 a.m. on Tuesday.

When officers arrived, they spoke to the 42-year-old victim, who told them that she and Michael Orso, 47, had been in an argument over the removal of an air conditioner.

The woman had swung a small rod at Orso to try to stop him from taking the air conditioner.

This caused Orso to pull out a handgun and fire it into the yard, police say.  Officers were able to find the .40-caliber casing where the air conditioner had been.

When officers searched the home, they found the handgun.

Orso denied any wrongdoing, police say.  But he was taken into custody on suspicion of terroristic threats and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
