Man found dead in locomotive at North Platte train yard, authorities say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was found dead Sunday inside a train at Bailey Yard in North Platte.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said a man’s decomposing body was inside a small compartment on a locomotive that is used to store a fire extinguisher.
The man – later found to be a citizen of Mexico – wedged himself in the room and shut the door.
The sheriff’s office said evidence suggests that he was unable to unlatch the door and died “days ago.”
Before making a stop in North Platte, the train had traveled from Mexico to San Antonio.
An investigation is ongoing, but the sheriff’s office said the death appears to be accidental.
In April, the body of a Wyoming woman was also found in a train at Bailey Yard.
The sheriff’s office said her body had been wedged in a small generator room behind the train’s cab.
