LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former Lincoln man was convicted Monday in a police chase in the Omaha area.

Jason Small, 46, pleaded no contest to operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest in Douglas County District Court.

A judge sentenced him to one year in prison, with credit for 102 days served.

His driver’s license will also be revoked for two years.

This is the second time Small, who court records say now lives in Elkhorn, has been convicted of that offense.

In December, Small was arrested with his then-roommate, Christopher Simpson, in Lincoln.

Court documents say investigators found 41 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms in their home near Southwest Eighth and West A streets.

Police said Small also had a bag with 1.4 grams of meth on him.

Investigators think Simpson was dealing drugs, but Small was just using.

On Dec. 26, Small paid $350 to be released on bail in that case.

In February, he was pulled over in Omaha for an expired registration.

But Small sped off, according to the Omaha Police Department, cutting across three lanes of traffic.

He continued east into Iowa, court documents say, where he was stopped by Council Bluffs Police.

His arrest delayed his case in Lancaster County, where he is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Simpson faces six felonies in that case.

Their next court hearings have not been sent.
