LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 21-year-old man pleaded no contest Tuesday in an assault at a Lincoln gas station.

Baath Alarab of Lincoln was found guilty of assault causing bodily injury, a misdemeanor.

Prosecutors had charged him with second-degree assault, a felony, but reduced it in exchange for his plea.

In June 2024, Alarab and five other men attacked two teenagers at the Casey’s near 27th and O streets, according to court documents.

Police said they approached the victims in the parking lot and started punching them using brass knuckles.

The victims had bruising and cuts but no serious injuries, police said.

One of the teens told investigators he thought the assault was over a girl.

Two other people were arrested in the assault.

One of them was charged and convicted of a misdemeanor.

The other, like Alarab, was initially charged with a felony but pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor.

Alarab is set to be sentenced on Oct. 6.
