LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man was sentenced Tuesday for leading law enforcement on a chase in Waverly and ramming their vehicles.
Trenton Engel of Pleasant Dale got 12 years in prison for six felonies, including third-degree assault on an officer and operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest.
He could be eligible for parole in six years, but once he is out, he will spend four years on probation.

On Oct. 8, Lancaster County deputies tried to pull over Engel after receiving a report that he had threatened to kill a woman.
But court documents say Engel sped off, driving his pickup truck over curbs and through fields in Waverly.
The vehicle came to a stop on Highway 6 near Amberly Road, and Engel began ramming law enforcement vehicles.

He damaged five cruisers, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, but no officers were seriously injured.
A Nebraska state trooper who was inside one of the vehicles shot at Engel but did not hit him.
Engel kept ramming their vehicles, so authorities used Tasers, pepper balls and foam projectiles to stop him.
