Man gets 20 years in prison for ‘sickening’ Omaha bank robbery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 30-year-old man was sent to prison on Wednesday for an Omaha bank robbery.

Andrew Kincaid of Omaha was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Brian Buescher also ordered him to pay $269,822 in restitution.

On Jan. 26, 2023, Kincaid and co-defendant Taliaferro Thompson entered the First National Bank of Omaha near 180th Street and West Center Road.

They pointed handguns at employees and customers, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Kincaid shoved a customer to the ground, authorities said, and Thompson pistol-whipped an employee.

Thompson also dragged a pregnant employee across the floor by her hair, then forced her at gunpoint to open the teller drawer.

“What happened here was sickening,” Buescher said.

The robbers made off with $348,920, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Law enforcement tracked them down to a home and found Thompson outside with $76,000.

More money from the back was found burnt in a nearby dumpster.

Kincaid was in the home and had red dye on his face and hands that was consistent with the dye pack hidden in the stolen money.

Thompson was sentenced in May to 22½ years in prison.

After Kincaid is released, he will spend five years on supervised release.
